The first table is for consonant sounds, the second is for vowel sounds, and the third is for vowel combinations. Each Table has six columns. The first column is the phonem or phonem combination that is being illustrated. The second column is the corresponding pinyin for that phonem. The third column is an example of a character having that phonetic sound in its pronunciation. The fourth column is the phonetic spelling of that character. The fifth column is the pinyin for that character. And the sixth column is a list of alternate pronunciations (if any) for that character.
