(954) 441-9228, Email: mcmunn@usa.net After leaving Japan, Dev Ahuja moved to San Francisco, finished college and now works for Wells Fargo as an analyst. He plans to spend 2000 doing some travelling and returning to school. • Carrie Aschman writes from Dayton, OH, where she is working for Design Forum, a retail design company. Carrie writes, “I have gotten to work on some neat projects, most recently designing the new Infiniti car dealerships and a Breyers ice cream store.” • Marie Baba recently spent two years teaching at a junior high school in Chiba-ken, Japan. She is now back in Southern California and enjoying spending time with her brand new niece. • Allison Babb is still living in New York City and would love to hear from other ASIJers living in New York. • Aside from staying at home with her two girls, Amy Beverley Boston started her own business. She designs/hosts wedding Web sites that hold all the information a guest could need. • Melissa Brinkmann moved to Syracuse, NY, for another job with the Air Force. She reports that she finished her master’s degree and will be getting out in a year and a half. • A resident of Port Chester, NY, Leila Bryner is employed by Greenwich Associates, a financial consulting firm. She writes, “The people are great and I can even practice some Japanese with a few of the consultants.” Last December, Leila vacationed in Switzerland. She keeps in touch with Rami Ramirez and Jennifer Yates and spent some time with Peter Cheyne last year in Washington, D.C. • Peter Buckley lives in Toronto and works for Canadian Airlines. He vacationed in Thailand, Miami and New York last year. Peter keeps in touch with Rich Bull and Jared Green and recently met up with Tiffany Lai who also lives in Toronto. • After graduating from Georgetown in May 1998, Matthew Clark went back to Japan to work for J.P. Morgan as an internal consultant. He transferred to the New York office last October and is enjoying New York. • Congratulations to Cathy Cruz, assistant editor of Glimpses Publications in Guam, who was named the region’s Small Business Journalist of the Year 2000 by the U.S. Small Business Administration. • Hisako Watanabe Dewanto recently traveled to India for business with her husband, but returned to Indonesia in mid-November to get settled in their new home. Shortly thereafter, Hisako traveled to Bali and Egypt with her family. She is planning to travel to the United States and Europe this year and hopes to meet up with lots of ASIJers. • Bill Endo still lives in Maryland, but spends most of his spare time in Boston. Most recently Bill’s job with a geotechnical contracting company has taken him to Trinidad, Wisconsin and Atlantic City. • Writing from Israel, Gali Eshkol reports that she is in her third year as an English literature major at Tel Aviv University and works in the marketing department of a hi-tech company. Her twin sister, Kinn, is still working as an administrative assistant for an American construction company currently building a new airport terminal. Recently Kinn took three weeks off to take a course for paramedics. • Kristian Ferguson graduated from Virginia Tech in 1998 and currently works in Falls Church at an Internet company. • Tristen Filippo is working for Bank of America in Austin, TX, and is pursuing a career in law. She writes, “My son, Ethan (3), is the joy of my life.” Tristen attended the reunion in D.C. with Jane Kim and reports that Jane gave birth to Cameron Hope Warner on December 13, 1999. • Currently living in Philadelphia, Jill Fink recently bought a house to share with Gretta, her rottweiler and hiking partner. She works in public affairs as the director of the Pennsylvania affiliate of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. • Lisa Floyd is still working as a catering director but has relocated to Washington, D.C., to be closer to her parents. She keeps in touch with Melissa Shimizu, Missy Brinkmann and Nagisa Singh. • Paul Fluss graduated from Purdue University in May 1999 and now lives in Nashville, TN. He works for a company called Murray, Inc. as a design engineer. • An employee for Hormel Foods, Marti Harrison reports that she has just been promoted to a larger account in Boston. • Kaoru Inahara lives in Aichi, Japan, and would like to get in touch with any ASIJers in the Nagoya area. • After graduating from LeTourneau University in December 1997, John Jordan worked for the FAA for about six months. He then worked for the U.S. Border Patrol, did lumberjacking in Colorado, managed a friend’s lube shop and worked in Dallas for MicroTechnology Services, Inc. John is now living in Garland, TX, and doing aircraft mechanic work for a company called Aircraft Ducting Repair. • Congratulations to Maki Kanayama for finishing her master’s in East Asian studies at Stanford University last June and starting up her law degree at Santa Clara University Law School. Maki spent Christmas in Japan and the New Year’s holiday in San Francisco. • Shana McIllwain Leeper works for a nonprofit agency, The Resource Exchange, which contracts with the state’s Department of Human Services to provide case management services for three counties in southern Colorado. She and her husband got married on July 25, 1999. • A resident of Honolulu, Chi-Ling Lin invites any classmates taking a trip to the land of aloha to look her up. • Tara Malloy graduated from Emory University with a double-major in comparative literature and history, then was on a Fulbright scholarship in Bonn, Germany. She is currently attending Yale concentrating in international law and human rights. • While working in the Office of Aids to Navigation and Waterways Management for Florida, Georgia and South Carolina for the Coast Guard, Chris McMunn is taking classes for his master’s of education in secondary social studies. He also does a radio show on a local college station. Chris lives in Pembroke Pines, FL, and asks any of his classmates passing through to give him a ring. • Mari Nagasue is currently studying at the University of Paris IV–La Sorbonne. • Mayumi Nakayama is now working as a records/files clerk for Riddell Williams, PS, one of the largest law firms in downtown Seattle. She keeps in touch with Shana McIllwain Leeper, Mari Nagasue and Haruna Tada. • After spending a year in London, Naoko Matsunaga Ostermann and her husband, Mark, moved to California. She is working for TeleAdapt, a mobile connectivity solutions company and is enjoying San Jose so far. • Last December, Shandy Ota moved to Maui and is working at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. • Craig Parkinson is attending the University of Windsor Law School and would like to work in criminal or environmental law. He has been in touch with Chet Rockwell. • After completing a bachelor's in Paris and a master’s at Oxford, and marrying in Copenhagen, Marta Lee Perriard is presently back at Oxford (Balliol College) reading for a doctorate in French and Francophone Literature. • Eloise Pocock is employed at Salomon Smith Barney in London, working for the transportation team in the corporate finance division. She reports that John Lafontaine ’90 is also employed there and sits just around the corner from her. • Suzanne Premo is the benefits manager at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg, IL. If any classmates are passing through O’Hare International Airport, Suzanne would love to hear from them. • Following a year of living in Akita, Japan and working for the Japanese government, Katie Quinn moved to Virginia. She is now working for United Airlines as a flight attendant. • Mike Riedy is living in Philadelphia, PA. • Maya Rodrig spent three weeks during winter break visiting Amsterdam and Paris. She is now at Ohio State University studying computer science after receiving her bachelor's in business and international relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. • A resident of Charlotte, NC, Katie Sakuma is a consultant for Osprey Systems. She recently spent two weeks in Japan travelling across the country with her family. Katie keeps in touch with Radhika Dani, Jill Fink, Pete Buckley and Julie McCord. • Brian Stolz enjoys living in Tokyo and regularly sees Jesper Edman, Kin-ei Lin, Riki Hudachek and Emile Goldberg. He has recently seen Shandy Ota, Shinta Kano and Matt Clark. • Since last August, Haruna Tada has been working for Lucent Technologies in Holmdel, NJ. • Junko Tamiya recently moved to Oceanside, CA, and would love to hear from any classmates passing through Southern California. • After spending a year in Berkeley, CA, Elizabeth Tucker moved back to Wisconsin to finish her last semester at UW. Her degree will be in zoology and she hopes to continue at physician assistant school. • Amy Wechselberger attended Clemson University in South Carolian where she studied elementary education, then earned her master’s in special education. Amy is currently teaching fifth graders in Prince Georges County, MD. • Writing from Huntington Beach, CA, Jen Woodard reports that she is “working and playing as usual.” She has a new job in pharmaceuticals and is enjoying it. Jen has been in touch with Allison Babb and Nick Lam and misses her old buddies from ASIJ. • Jennifer Yates works full-time at a bank and is also “back in school and hoping to finish soon.” She lives in Champaign, IL, and talks with Rami Ramirez and Leila Bryner regularly. • Boris Yelyashov is a financial analyst employed by General Growth Properties. He lives in Chicago. |
